Higher Education refers to all post-secondary courses and programs provided by public and accredited private institutions, excerpt from the Law No 2023/004 from July, 25 2023 on the Orientation of Higher Education.
The Higher Education is the highest level of the formal education system and within the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education. However, there are four Higher Education Institutions with a Special Status, overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of the relevant field (see our section Institutions).
Last but not least, there is a Vocational Training Pathway leading to National Diplomas like the HND, Senior Technician, Certificates, etc. or to Professional degrees (DUT) offered by Vocational Training Centres and some Private Institutions within the purview of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.
